We are currently looking for interns in the areas of Education, Event Production, Marketing/Communications and Cultural Incubator. Make a commitment of at least 16 hours a week for 3 or more months to work alongside the Gray Area Team and learn from our network, community, and activities as an art organization working between art, technology, and social impact. Education Intern

Reports to Education Director

Gray Area’s Education Intern is an individual who possesses a passion for creative coding and a desire to help support its growth within our community. The job is to assist the Director of Education with tasks that support Gray Area’s Educational offerings (i.e. workshops, immersive, meet-ups etc..) such as designing promotional materials, copywriting, web updates and more. The capacity to learn new technologies is important for this role, as this position will require learning our project management software, Podio. The Education intern will also be provided the opportunity to sit in on all classes to expand their own creative coding skills. Familiarity with Gray Area’s programs is not required but interest in digital arts and culture is very important.

Event Production Intern

Reports to Production Manager

Gray Area’s Event Production Intern is a hard working individual that works well with a team, but can be a self-starter. The job is to assist the Production Manager with special projects, events, design tasks, internal organization, maintenance of systems and more. The capacity to learn new technologies is important for this role, as this position will require learning our project management software, Podio. Familiarity with Gray Area’s programs is not required but interest in digital arts and culture is very important. The dates and times of projects and events can vary, but a minimum of 16 hours per week and a commitment of 3 months is necessary for this opportunity.

Marketing/Communications Intern

Reports to Community Manager

Gray Area’s Marketing and Communications Intern is an self-starting individual with an eye for detail who supports the Development and Communications staff. The intern assists with general administrative tasks such as coordinating social media, mailings, contact database, community outreach, and helps conduct reports on social media performance indicators and aids in strategic planning. Collaborating and working on special projects and events may also be part of the intern’s tasks. Dates and times can vary, but a minimum of 16 hours per week, and a commitment of 3 months is necessary for this opportunity.

  • Excellent English language skills
  • Strong research abilities
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Prior experience in project management, database maintenance, communications, and/or office administration.

Cultural Incubator Intern

Reports to Cultural Incubator Director

Gray Area’s Cultural Incubator Intern is an individual who is passionate about artist production and administration. The intern assists the Director of the Cultural Incubator with tasks that support our unique program for artists such as designing promotional materials, developing outreach strategies, aiding in program documentation, copywriting, web updates and more. The capacity to learn new technologies is important for this role, as this position will require learning our project management software, Podio. The Incubator intern will also be invited to the Incubator critiques and will help in production of public dialogue and exhibition events. Familiarity with Gray Area’s programs is not required but interest in digital arts and culture is very important.
