Passionate about music and an aspiring vocalist, Janine Cook (aka j9) is known for an enthusiastic and empathic approach to playing, her joy ever evident as she reads the crowd, throws down and keeps the floor packed and sweaty. You can feel her punk rock and industrial musical roots in her bass-heavy Breakbeats, and Bass House. 

She is long-time resident of the legendary San Francisco Space Cowboys, was recently added to the roster of the breaks-exclusive Fraktured SF, and is a founding member of the all-female collective Angels of bAss. 

In this time of shelter in place, she’s been honing her skills and expanding her style by streaming weekly and participating in many virtually-hosted music events like the monthly 2 day event, Unison.  She keeps the spirits of her community high and their bodies moving, in anticipation of the day they can reunite on the beloved dance floor.
