Clive Wilkinson, architect, designer, writer and strategist, discusses his new book, Theatre of Work and Lingxiu Chong, architect, will touch on themes that re-examine and re-imagine the nature of work, the "work force" and the spaces in which we work.
Bios:
Clive Wilkinson is an architect, designer, writer and strategist with particular expertise in the application of urban design thinking to interior design, specifically in workplace and educational communities. He was born in South Africa and educated in the United Kingdom, where he received his degree from the prestigious Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. His practice, Clive Wilkinson Architects, was established in Los Angeles in 1991 and is an acknowledged global leader in workplace design. He has created unique spaces for Disney, Google, Macquarie, Microsoft, Nokia and TBWA\Chiat\Day. His designs have received over 175 awards to date.
Lingxiu Chong is an architect based in San Francisco. Her work across design, conservation and education aims to activate and transform historic artefacts and spaces around the world. She has brought her professional experience in architectural conservation and adaptive re-use design, locally with Page & Turnbull and abroad with the Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), into teaching architectural design and history with institutions including CCA, the Singapore University of Technology and Design and the Architectural Association School of London. Lingxiu currently directs AA Visiting School San Francisco Bay Area (AAVS SF) organized between London and San Francisco, and is part of COLLECTIVE, an international design studio with a focus on cultural projects in Asia.
