Projection Mapping Workshop

Overview

Projection mapping can transform any surface or object into a dynamic, interactive visual display or immersive experience. Students will learn the difference between 2D and 3D projection mapping, get an overview of the various software packages used to map images, and get hands on working with an image to project. This workshop will focus on 2D projection mapping for mixed media and gallery settings using Modul8 software.

Students will be provided with several images to complete their projection mapping work. Working with these images, students will learn how to map to the image directly and how alignment can be used to create depth and dimension. Students will also learn how the surface material is an important part of the image, as well as how the colors of the image influence the final experience. With these initial experimentations, the student will have a foundation to explore the limitless realms of projection mapping.
