Patch Pulse: Sela & onmommas

On October 23rd, Patch Pulse presents a night of live audiovisual performances live from the Grand Theater. Bay Area locals Sela and onmommas, featuring visuals by Olivia Cueva, will light up your headphones with their footwork beats, ambient synths, smooth vocals and ebbs and flows. This lineup is sure to get your body moving!

This evening is curated by Diego Mungia. Tune in to this special Patch Pulse performance, part of Gray Area's ongoing series of livestream A/V performances spotlighting experimental multimedia artists from around the world.

Artists

Sela

Sela is an experimental electronic musician blending and warping ambient, hip-hop, footwork and juke in to unique new forms. Hailing from Vallejo California, Sela has been described by Pitchfork as “a restless producer, DIY footwork archivalist, and mastermind behind one of the rarest, most thorough footwork compilation series in digital form”. His vast and forward thinking styles can be heard on his own beautifully hand crafted cassette releases, his collaborations with Japanese footwork producer Dj Foodman and on the record label Error Broadcast.

Olivia Cueva

Olivia Cueva is a technologist, storyteller, multimedia producer and all around bad gal creative. She focusing on creating useful products and programs that credit and empower my communities. I design for a world that does not yet exist, but one that is on her/their way. I am the director of the David E. Glover Emerging Technology Center, a legacy grassroots, technology, design, and makerspace in Deep East Oakland, CA, providing free education to youth, adults, and seniors from around the East Bay.

onmommas

onmommas is the dj alias of multidisciplinary artist, sasha kelley. onmommas brings her love for genre blending music to curate sets that are centered in subliminal medicine and emotional exploration. She is a member of We Are Th One & The House of Malico. Her mixes have been featured on Black Girl Magik, Staying Underground & Lower Grand Radio.
