Creative Currency (#CR8C) Demo Day
In April 2012, 175 of San Francisco’s brightest community leaders, developers, designers, and entrepreneurs came together to build new solutions addressing some of Mid-Market’s most pressing issues at an event called Creative Currency Collaboration Weekend. We selected four top projects to receive support and mentoring of their ideas in the months to come.
–SQFT (yoursqft.com) is a project to activate vacant or underutilized spaces by bringing temporary activity to the Mid-Market neighborhood. Our mission is to create a seamless online platform that connects renters with short-term spaces and labor. Our intention is to bolster existing business, attract new business, create employment opportunities for local residents, and bring vibrancy into the neighborhood.
–RefreshSF (refreshsf.org) is a program predicated on the need to promote public health, build awareness of homelessness and encourage giving through an easy-to-use donation system. We believe that the first step in creating access to a source of water to cleanse and refresh is critical to fostering a personal dignity and mutual recognition of humanity.
–Bridge (bridge.braitsch.io/) The Bridge project advances the mapping and communication of the complex ecosystem of services to homeless populations and offers a new open architecture technology platform that improves efficiency and service quality to clients, and transparency and information sharing among providers. The Bridge technology solution includes both service providers and clients with technology that allows transparency and a robust exchange of real-time information via multiple channels. The platform gathers the data necessary to create a more comprehensive solution, both at the technology and ecosystem-wide levels.
–TrustScore (jackdreilly.github.com/TrustScore/) TrustScore uses trust as a creative form of currency, leveraging informal networks and relationships to assess risk, and to enable those traditionally marginalized to engage in the formal economy. TrustScore is a product designed to cater to the specific needs of organizations and companies in their decision to accept certain new users. TrustScore also allows users certain privileges in a way that permits them to manage their risk as they feel comfortable. TrustScore can be a powerful tool to provide new opportunities to those at the edges of this increasingly democratized economy.
