CHRISTEENE is a human pissoir of raw unabashed sexuality; a gender-blending, booty-pounding, perversion of punk fully equipped with an arsenal of ferocious music intertwined with raw moments of strained intimacy and fiery stank. Reports from live shows describe CHRISTEENE appearing alongside two sexually distinct ‘Backup  Boyz’, macabre scenes involving butt plugs tied to bouquets of balloons being released from the singer’s arse, intimate and bizarre confessionals, wardrobes styled from the forgotten scraps of society, and heated communication on the state of the world as we know it. CHRISTEENE has toured extensively both nationally and internationally for the past several years as well as supporting Faith No More and Peaches on both their world tours in 2015. CHRISTEENE is also accompanied by a highly stylized collection of music videos released through the performer’s longtime collaborative efforts with award winning filmmaker and cinematographer, PJ Raval. The duo’s music videos have been showcased in the film festivals: South by Southwest, NYC Rooftop Films, Paris Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, CFMDC’s Queer City Cinema’s Tour “Wide Open Wide”, Homo-a-go-go, Prince George Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, Regina Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, the International Short Film Festival/ Detmold, and the Denver Film Festival…to name a few. It should be noted that CHRISTEENE’s music, media and live shows have cast an unprecedented net over a demographic including married men, dykes, queers, single women, bears, faeries, academics, motor hogs, pastors, and people of the medical profession; clearly signifying a rapidly growing pandemic on popular culture as we know it.

Peaches Christ is an American underground drag performer, emcee, filmmaker, and actor. Peaches currently resides in San Francisco where her Backlash Production Company and Midnight Mass movie series are based.

DJ Haram is a DJ/producer, co-founder and resident of Philadelphia’s own free-falling club night ATM.

AH-Mer-AH-Su is the music project of interdisciplinary artist Star Amerasu, whose music and art is based upon her experiences living loud and proud as a queer black trans woman. While her early work was influenced primarily by folk and choral music, she has recently begun experimenting with electronic indie pop. Residing in Oakland, California, Star is a Siren Witch Poptronic Princess and thus takes for granted the power and influence of magic, and her connections to the astral plane. Star has performed 3 consecutive years at the San Francisco Pride Trans March and in 2015 performed for the first time on at Oakland Pride. She has graced international stages captivating audiences with her looped vocals and live electronic percussion in Berlin and Paris along with spots at the Annual Fresh Meat Festival, SomArts, and The News in San Francisco; Safehouse Arts, Dixon Place Theatre and the Times Square Arts Center in New York City.

Kim Ip, "Krimm", has been making work fresh out of her vintage 2014 Mills College swimming pool. Her body of work is determined by her desire to curate a process for her collaborators that allows for a deep study of their idiosyncrasies and how they mesh together to form a collective performance. Lately, her process is influenced by her daily experiences in public and private space, citing her desire to explore her womxn identity as a fearful and exhilarating experience. She is incredibly humbled to be making work with such strong artists and would like to thank B4BEL4B for producing her work and Shawl-Anderson Dance Center for providing a residency to incubate this piece.

Since their debut on the bay area underground scene in 2011, Vvainhein has evolved from subversive lip-sync performances at drag shows to a multimedia experience showcasing original songwriting and production. Vainhein (“vain” as in vanity, “hein” as in heinous) serves as a mirror for the audience to gain a new perspective on themselves. Vainhein A.K.A. “urheinous” asks you to interrogate your own humanity by calling out the worst elements of human nature. (u = you. R = are. Heinous = what you are... Get it?) vainhein constantly questions the role of the artist, the ego, the celebrity, in an age where social media forces people into the capitalist paradigm, in which everybody is expected to brand themselves as a product to be sold and consumed. Vainhein’s debut album “gag order” is expected to drop in 2016.

Saturn, champion of non-binary self-expression, vibrant dancer, and style icon, is a San Francisco-bred, Los Angeles-based boundary-pushing performing artist. Saturn has toured Australia, South Korea, Mexico and Canada, took the mainstage at LA Pride 2018, and headlined Seattle Pride 2019. Having opened for Kelsey Lu, Azealia Banks & Charli XCX, Saturn has also starred in videos for Kaytranada & TR/ST, as well as newer artists Matisse Evreoux and Jaake Castro. Formerly a club King, Saturn notes, "the biggest thing I’ve done as a party host was host RHONDA in the Bahamas as a part of the Holy Ship Festival. But I’ve literally gone from club dancer to backup dancer to party host to headliner! It's been most pleasing to my career.” As someone who always gives back to the community with time and effort, Saturn has been advocating during the recent BLM uprisings both in protest and online. “We can see things in such a small way, being mindful of the incremental wins we achieve on the road to our greater liberation, yet the big picture is that unity is the only way out. Unity can be practiced independently as long as we're going towards the same goal: once Trans lives are free, we're all free." After various premieres at Afropunk, Papermag, Billboard, etc., and features in publications Cakeboy, We Are Drome, Subvrt, and Vogue Beauty; performing multi-media art pieces for Codame Art+Tech; and an artist residency with Human Resources LA, Saturn has delved deeper into tech as a means of expression. They are currently developing a podcast, a video blog, and a new web presence that creates a venue for their content and image, a focal point for upcoming projects in music and film, and an opportunity for fans to engage with the artist and secure exclusive merchandise. The song "Love Takeover" has over 100k streams on Spotify. Saturn chooses to focus on creating revenue for their content, which means selling their music through Bandcamp, as well as focusing on their most profitable venture so far: performing. Saturn has used this year to expand their performance online and explore opportunities in digital media.

The Lab believes that if artists are given enough time, space, and funding to realize their vision, the work they produce will change the way we experience the world. These are often small propositions that (like all great art) challenge the familiar ways we perceive value, and so the lab seeks out extraordinary artists who are underrepresented as a result of gender, class, race, sexuality, or geography, and whose work is not easily defined and therefore monetized. As a site of constant iteration and indeterminacy, The Lab is, above all, a catalyst for artistic experimentation. The Lab is W.A.G.E. Certified. W.A.G.E.
