Overview

An internship at Gray Area is a cohort-based experience where interns will gain a broad skill set applicable towards many different career types. During your internship at Gray Area you will join our small team and get hands-on experience working in a fast-paced nonprofit.

The ideal candidate for a Gray Area internship is someone who is willing to be flexible and play an active role in helping Gray Area succeed. Interns will undergo a comprehensive orientation and training that will cover both marketing and event production responsibilities required for success within the internship. Interns should be comfortable working on a laptop as well as performing physical tasks. Interns are required to provide their own laptop.

Internship

Gray Area’s Intern is a hard working individual that works well with a team, but can be a self-starter. The job is to assist the team with special projects, events, design tasks, internal organization, maintenance of systems coordinating social media, mailings, contact database, community outreach, and helps conduct reports on social media performance indicators and aids in strategic planning.

The capacity to learn new technologies is important for this role, as this position will require learning our project management software, Airtable. Familiarity with Gray Area’s programs is not required but interest in digital arts and culture is very important.

Dates and times can vary, but a minimum of 16 hours per week, and a commitment of 3 months is necessary for this opportunity.

Interns will receive a $500 stipend.

Responsibilities

Set up for events and shows
Copy writing and editing of marketing materials
Marketing research related to best practices
Event Staffing
Research for potential partnerships
Administrative tasks and maintenance of database
Database updating

Skills & Experience

Excellent English language skills
Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills
Must be able to lift 30 pounds
Production experience
Strong research abilities
Sound/lighting experience
Prior experience in project management, database maintenance, communications, and/or office administration
Experience with project management software a plus
