Videogames tell stories. Unfortunately, they typically tell this one: "Once upon a time there was a guy with a gun, and he went into a room and he shot some monsters, and then he went into another room and shot some other monsters." That's a story. But it's a really boring story.
Fortunately, as the barriers to entry on making games continue to disappear, it leaves the field wide open for newcomers and anyone interested to explore new types of stories to write and tell. So, how do you tell your story through the medium of games?
In this course, we will help people with non-game backgrounds learn to write, explore, and develop a vocabulary for building short and evocative game-like experiences.
We will not teach you how to write the next Grand Theft Auto or Fortnite. We will teach you how to approach games as a tool to tell stories that you haven't seen or heard before.
