The class will look at both digital and physical artistic representations of maps and geographic data along with work that is more performative. We will explore different processes for creating maps. Course participants will walk away with their own printed map. The course costs $180 ($30/hr x 6). Discounts available for students and those that are underemployed.
Michelle Chandra is a San Francisco-based user experience designer, developer, and artist interested in the creative and artistic application of data to varied mediums including maps, photography and music. She studied art, tech and code at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. Her work has been featured in many publications including the Daily Mail, the Washington Post, Engadget, Gizmodo, and the Creator’s Project. She currently works at CARTO, a web mapping platform, where she helps users visualize their geographic data.
