“The Mission” Book Launch Party

Come to the Grand Theater for a book launch event to celebrate the pulse of the Mission with a ceremonial blessing by Carla and Desiree Muñoz, words from Roberto Hernandez (Carnival's artistic director), Susan Cervantes (Founder of Precita Eyes), muralist Juana Alicia, and author/photographer, Dick Evans. Music by local DJs CUBA and Petrelli.

Doors open at 6 PM
Program begins at 6:30 PM
Book Signing at 7:30 PM

In his latest photography book, "The Mission", Dick Evans captures the pulse of life in the Mission District, the San Francisco neighborhood known for its murals and Latin American culture—and more recently for its rapid gentrification. Intimate, colorful images depict a place filled with diverse residents, stately Victorian houses, hand-painted store signs, Carnaval dancers, Día de los Muertos celebrants, political activists, and more.

Books will be available for purchase and signing after the program.

A $10 donation at the door is suggested to help continue the culturally rich work of the artists and performers who have made this project possible.
