World-renowned for championing contemporary talent on an international scale within the electronic arts and music scene, the collective has built a reputation for some of the most cutting-edge, tasteful and provocative cultural (and sub-cultural) happenings in the Bay Area and beyond. blasthaus gallery was recognized as the the first gallery space in the United States dedicated exclusively to the emerging genre of the electronic and digital arts. Founded in April 1995, the gallery has established itself as the epicenter for art and technology in the greater Bay Area and developed an international reputation for the presentation of art that incorporates technology, science and new media. This includes interactive sculpture, multimedia installation, sound art, robotics and mechanical sculpture, computer-based or computer driven work, net art, light art, video and performance. Currently blasthaus has suspended regular gallery programming in San Francisco, but is still very active in the electronic and media arts scene in both the US and in Europe.
