By correlating building codes with permits issued we can visualize the progression of San Francisco’s energy efficiency standards.

Over 53% of San Francisco residential units were built before 1939. What does the absence of up to date building permits tell us about each neighborhood?

The brighter the dot the greater the energy savings. From the darker dots we can analyze the energy deficiencies from neighborhood to neighborhood and home to home.
