Tipsy
Brought together by their shared fascination for experimental music and noise, the San Francisco-based lounge-collage duo Tipsy consists of Tim Digulla and David Gardner. Interested in the possibilities exotica and lounge music presented for tweaking and remixing, the duo formed Tipsy in 1995 and recorded at their label Asphodel’s studio. Their music blends modern production and retro sensibilities, cut-up thrift store vinylscapes, space-age instrumental pop, dance-music, and a healthy slab of goofiness into surreal musical confections.
Tipsy recorded with a top-shelf set of guest musicians, including avant / classical percussionist William Winant, Joe Gore, Ralph Carney, and the late Vince Welnick (The Tubes, Grateful Dead) among many others. Pulp, Lords of Acid, Towa Tei, and many others, have been remixed by Tipsy. Their songs have appeared in international soda and beer commercials, TV (The Sopranos, Sex and the City, MTV’s real world), Tokyo Disneyland, and more.
