Jennifer Raymond is a lifelong advocate for compassionate and responsible care for all animals. When she retired and moved to Humboldt County in 2000, she began a second career dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation and the suffering it causes. In 2003, she founded Humboldt Spay/Neuter Clinic to make affordable sterilization services available to the community, and in 2023 she founded a second clinic, Humboldt Critters Without Litters, to better serve the animals in southern Humboldt County. During her time in Humboldt, she has watched the euthanasia rate drop from over 4,000 dogs and cats a year to under 100.

After uncovering the killing of dogs at Miranda’s Rescue this past spring, Jennifer has embarked on a third career: advocating for legislation to make spaying and neutering affordable for all dogs and cats in California, and developing a statewide agency to enforce the laws and ensure the humane treatment for animals in shelters and rescues.
