Batu Aytemiz

Batu uses AI to enhance how games are made and experienced—not for the sake of games, but for the people who play them. As an ML Engineer at Regression Games, he currently focuses on automated game testing, code generation, and designer support tools. During his Ph.D. at UC Santa Cruz he explored AI techniques to make video games more inclusive. He later developed interactive imitation learning systems at Agentic.ai to automatically test games. At Microsoft Research Cambridge, he investigated how designers can shape aesthetic of reinforcement learning agents through human feedback, and at Ubisoft La Forge, he tackled physics-based navigation challenges in AAA-scale game maps, once again using reinforcement learning.

Beyond research, Batu fosters community and education. As an organizer of *PlayForTurkiye*, he helped launch the Humble Türkiye-Syria Earthquake Relief Bundle, raising critical funds for disaster relief. As Vice President of ÜNOG, he contributed to Turkey’s largest game development community. A recognized educator, he has taught internationally across New York, California, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates, earning UC Santa Cruz’s Outstanding Teacher award.
