He teaches in the Interaction Design program at California College of the Arts, and volunteers on the boards of First Exposures and San Francisco Camerawork (where he served as Interim Director in 2020). He occasionally teaches workshops and volunteers as a Teaching Assistant at Gray Area. For a long time, Dave worked at Apple on their interactive marketing team.

His creative work explores the relationship between human perception, Machine Learning and AI systems. He particularly enjoys mashing up data, traditional darkroom photography and creative coding.
