Florica Vlad

Former Research & Outreach

Florica Vlad is interested in visual media, web theory and community organization. She does public outreach and open-source advocacy for ShiftSpace, an open-source meta-web platform that allows users to annotate, remix, shift and share any webpage, anywhere. A graduate of the Film and Television Department at the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, with a minor in Journalism and Communications, Florica has written and directed her own short films and has recently collaborated with media theorist and writer Douglas Rushkoff on a promotional film for his new book, Life Inc. In addition to her work in film, Florica has created interactive physical projects. Having completed her graduate studies in the Interactive Telecommunications Program at the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU Florica gained exposure to physical computing, new media arts and design. The Pianocktail, an interactive cocktail-making piano, she built with Oscar Torres, was featured in MAKE Magazine’s Best In Show category at the Interactive Telecommunications Program Winter Show.
