Ia Balbuena joins Gray Area this summer as a Creative Development and Production intern. This coming fall she will be a senior at the University of Oregon, where she is majoring in Advertising at the School of Journalism and Communication. Interning at Gray Area has equipped Balbuena with creative confidence and a surprising amount of muscle mass from constructing and deconstructing exhibits. In addition, she is an illustrator for the University’s student publication, The Daily Emerald. In her free time (when there is any,) she enjoys playing soccer, making digital art, and getting lost on San Francisco public transportation.
