Iván Abreu

Iván Abreu is an audiovisual artist and creative technologist working and residing in Mexico City. He explores a wide range of media such as digital graphics, photography, electronic devices, software development, music and sound experimentation, expanded film and video, and industrial design. He has received awards and support from The Prix Ars Electronica (2012, Linz, Austria); the CINTAS Foundation Award in Visual Arts, (2011-12, New York / Miami), ZKM Production and Research Residence – Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Germany (2021), the Center’s Arts and Media Research Support Program Nacional de las Artes (2007) and the National System of Art Creators of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (2012-2014, 2017-2019 and 2022-2025, Mexico), among others. His audiovisual work has been presented at international festivals of sound art, experimental music and media art such as the International Conference of Live Coding Madrid, Aural, Transmediale Berlin, MUTEK Mexico and Montreal, International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) and Asia Culture Center, Korea.
