Kat Epple is a pioneer in electronic and New Age music, video artwork, and music technology. As part of the San Francisco-based husband-and-wife duo Emerald Web (Bob Stohl and Kat Epple) she created music that combines flutes and acoustic instruments with synthesizers, tape effects, and electronic wind instruments. Emerald Web released classic albums, performed in concerts at planetariums, observatories, museums, and composed film music for astronomer Carl Sagan, Apple Computers, and PBS-NOVA. Since Bob Stohl’s untimely death in 1990, Kat Epple has continued composing for film, television, and dance, earning Peabody, Edward R. Murrow, and Emmy Awards. Her film credits include National Geographic, Nova, and Valentino Fashions, alongside ten albums in various music genres. She has performed for her friend Robert Rauschenberg’s art openings and also records and performs with metal/rock guitarist Devin Townsend. Kat is currently working on the Emerald Web analog media archives and song catalog, which is being restored, remastered, and reissued on vinyl, video, and digital platforms.
