Kim Old
Kim Old is Chief Commercial Officer at EMOTIV and a founding team member of the pioneering brain-computer interface (BCI) company bringing neurotechnology from research environments into everyday life. She helped shape the company’s strategy, partnerships, and operational foundation, playing a central role in scaling EMOTIV from an early-stage startup into a globally recognized neurotechnology platform. With over a decade at the intersection of neuroscience, AI, and emerging technology, Kim focuses on building ethical, accessible tools that deepen our understanding of the human mind. Her work spans research, education, enterprise systems, and creative technology—expanding who can access brain data and how it can be used responsibly.
In addition to her industry leadership, Kim has contributed to international conversations on neurotechnology governance, serving as an advisor and contributor to initiatives with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the U.S. Government Accountability Office, and policy research exploring emerging neurotechnology and neurorights.
At EMOTIV, she leads initiatives that enable people and organizations to engage directly with neural data, opening new possibilities for insight, expression, and human-centered design. She is particularly interested in neuroprivacy, human agency, and how emerging technologies can strengthen rather than diminish our relationship to ourselves. Her work centers on what happens when experimental neurotechnology becomes part of everyday life—and the responsibility that comes with building it.
