Miguel Novelo
Miguel Novelo is a transdisciplinary artist, researcher, and educator exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning architectures, and cultural memory. A Stanford MFA graduate, 2026 Knight Art + Tech Fellow, and 2026 Artadia Award finalist, he develops interactive systems and generative installations that examine human-algorithm entanglements to foster collective memory across physical and digital spaces. Currently based in the Bay Area as a Lecturer at Stanford University and San José State University, his practice bridges ancestral linguistics with cybernetic systems. He utilizes custom neural networks, real-time computer vision, and game engines to build autonomous environments and speculative simulations as shifting perspectives to think from non-human or geological scales. By reframing AI as a medium for active creative friction rather than passive tool-use, his work invites the public to critically engage with machine intelligence as a living co-creative system.
