ARCA live @ 1015 Folsom

GRAY AREA, DJ DIALS, 1015 FOLSOM, and SWAGGER LIKE US present a once in a lifetime rare A/V live performance by ARCA at 1015 Folsom.

Alejandro Ghersi, AKA Arca, is an artist that continually sheds skins, leaving behind the comfortable and familiar in search of alluring and challenging new forms. His boundary-pushing creations led him to co-producing albums for Kanye West, Bjork, FKA Twigs, and Kelela. His first Bay Area performance in years is an extremely rare opportunity to witness the singular talent premiere new material & experiment with his many mediums of art.

Artist

Arca

The enigmatic producer, famed for his abstract and heavily-manipulated take on hip-hop (notably scooped by Kanye West for his Yeezus album), has become almost as well-known for his DJ sets with frequent partner Jesse Kanda on visuals. His latest spate of gigs will see him take Kanda on the road along with Fade To Mind DJ Total Freedom, with an emphasis on visiting unconventional venues like churches and museums.

Swagger Like Us

Swagger Like Us is the brainchild of events curator Kelly Lovemonster and producer and DJ davOmakesbeats. They started the event in San Francisco as a way to provide emerging queer hip-hop artists, DJs and dancers from all over the country a platform to showcase their talents. The vibe of the parties themselves feel like family, full of refreshing high energy and with an aesthetic that is fashion forward, sleek, cool and with its finger on the pulse of underground queer club circles. This can be seen reflected in their guest talent, DJs and hosts. They saw a void in the city with the types of music, fashion and queer representation and the community responded by showing up and turning out.
