GRAY/V is back, showcasing site-specific audiovisual collaborations from three Bay Area multimedia artists!

For this session, Rbeny will be bringing some of his beautifully heavy modular sounds, incorporating everything from shoegaze and elated drone metal to the soothing sounds of filed recorded collages. In a wonderful contrast, Agnes Martian will be performing their own style of ambient jazz, folk and drone in lovely quadraphonic sound. In harmony with the sounds, there will be live visuals from Melanie Marie. Her brilliant collages, unique live coding technique, and visual synthesis will be on full bright display.

This evening is curated by Diego Munguia.
GRAY/V is a showcase of Bay Area audiovisual artists hosted by Gray Area.
All ticket sale profit goes directly to the artists and curator.

Artists

Rbeny

Rbeny is an electronic ambient project from California featuring modular and hardware synthesizers.

Agnes Martian

Agnes Martian soundtracks an imaginary planetarium that charts undiscovered constellations of inner/outer space. Benjamin Rodgers (guitar, synths) and Zekarias Thompson (saxophone) started the project in 2019, inviting collaborators from a variety of musical backgrounds to join their sprawling warehouse jams. More recently artist/musician Phillip Laurent has joined Rodgers and Thompson for a series of performances that investigate the possibility of quadraphonic sound to shift the perspectives of both performer and audience member and direct attention to the sculptural presence of sound in space—an examination of emergence as much as of immersion.

Melanie Marie

Melanie Marie is a creative coder and visual artist based out of Oakland, California.

Partner

Diego Munguia

Diego is an artist and event curator based out of Oakland. Having been raised in Mexico, he believes in the power of cultural exposure to connect and inspire people. Utilizing his experience in live performance, event production, and business marketing, Diego seeks to connect the eclectic diaspora of the Bay Area’s musical community through Gray Area.
