Immersive Design Reality Mixer: Showcase Closing

Join us for our Immersive Design Reality Mixer to celebrate the closing of the Gray Area Showcase.

5pm - 7pm

Free with RSVP

Gray Area together with Knight Foundation has just announced an Open Call for creating immersive art experiences that radically redefine our integral role within the environment. On June 20, we will host the second of two Immersive Design Reality Mixers to answer any questions about the Open Call and Research Lab, and to create a space for artists to meet potential collaborators for our Research Lab Incubator.

The evening will be informal — learn more about the Research Lab from the Gray Area team, mingle with other creative minds over drinks at the bar, and be inspired by a dynamic series of interactive art. Coinciding with the closing of the Gray Area Showcase, the evening will also be the last chance to see the exhibition of artwork fostered within our Incubator and Education programs. Join us for drinks, art, music and good company as we discuss all things which are adjusting our Reality.

Program Overview

The Experiential Space Research Lab is focused on exploring the possibilities of immersive art and design as a critical thinking tool for pressing issues of our time, as well as a sustaining revenue stream for new media artists. The six-month Incubator program provides two teams of artists with seed funding, mentorship, and a final exhibition at Gray Area.

We encourage media artists with an entrepreneurial spirit and social-minded vision to apply. In the Incubator, we will work together to prototype, develop, produce and market an experiential space which can tour to other locations.

We welcome applications from Individual Artists and Collectives, and encourage artists to meet potential collaborators at our Immersive Design Reality Mixer.

Another way for applicants to meet each other and self organize into teams for the Open Call is our Gray Area Facebook Group.
