Seated and standing VR
Please Note: VR headsets are not for everyone. They can feel heavy, disorienting, or physically uncomfortable for some participants.
All experiences have thoughtfully designed locomotion (minimal movement to reduce motion sickness for most users). However, VR may still be unsuitable for individuals sensitive to motion or spatial disorientation, including those prone to vertigo or certain health conditions.

Gray Area presents Immersive Story Club: a new events series highlighting excellence and diversity in virtual reality narrative experiences from around the world.
Led by Gray Area Cultural Incubator member Danielle Giroux, this recurring gathering will feature a different short form VR film in each session.
Following each screening, the Immersive Story Club will follow an experimental and fluid format: each session aiming to uncover meaningful ways of moving from virtual immersion into discussion and craft rooted in physical world connection and camaraderie. Immersive Story Club is a work in progress, currently incubating at Gray Area, and will be conducted in an open format that welcomes participant suggestions.
Each VR experience presented has travelled around the world to film festivals, museums and other venues. Now, many of these creative gems sit hidden on hard drives somewhere while the technology slowly becomes obsolete. As a participant in Immersive Story Club, you will have the opportunity to view rarely accessed artworks that are notoriously resistant to conservation. Through Giroux's selection of films, the group will explore topics like censorship, shared memory, personal identity, nostalgia, and shifting social perspectives.
Come ask WHY VR with us. Join in for a virtual story and stick around for conversation, collaging, and more!
There will be tea. <3
About Immersive Story Club
Immersive Story Club
Reimagining the ways we share immersive stories.
This is a hands-on, grassroots approach with a focus on responsible, human-centered ways to share virtual reality narrative experiences in community-centered formats. We are testing the format of repeated frequency gathering with programming around the program – but also observing, connecting, and listening following a deep immersion into a VR film that has travelled through festivals around the world. The goal is to experiment and gather information to develop a living toolkit that can help bring curious partners more easily in contact with programming that engenders meaningful encounters with one of the most powerful storytelling tools humans have ever built.About the Host
Danielle Giroux
Danielle Giroux is behind Immersive Story Club - a research-based art project exploring the modes of XR distribution, with a focus on space making & community building around short form narrative experiences in virtual reality. Danielle is spearheading this with the support of Agog, sponsored by Games for Change and part of the XR Distribution Coalition. She works with a diverse catalog and actors in immersive XR production, formerly at the third branch of Atlas V, and now independently. She is of the ethos that VR distribution (for impact) makes sense when hands on with community, finding ways technology serves above extracting. Her specialties lie in leadership, bridging sectors, and creative solutions in XR and the arts. Danielle holds an MA in Arts and Visual Cultures from Université Paris Diderot and is currently part of the Gray Area incubation cohort 2026. She is a deep thinker that has at times gone "off path" when it comes to VR, but always on path when it comes to the artist way (https://tender-soil.com/)
