Immersive sonic and visual live experience performance project Jerusalem In My Heart comes to Gray Area this October 4, 2022, joined by experimental techno artist Hiro Kone and her signature hypnotic textures.

Jerusalem In My Heart

Jerusalem In My Heart (JIMH) is a live audio-visual performance project, with Lebanese producer and musician Radwan Ghazi Moumneh and Montréal based filmmaker Erin Weisgerber at it’s core. JIMH is an immersive sonic and visual live experience, with an evolving effort to forge a modern experimental Arabic music wed to hand-made visuals using analog 16mm film at site-specific screen installations. Weisgerber manipulates the photographic, chemical, and material properties of 16mm film to transform the world framed through her camera; rendering rhythmic images that exist between figuration and abstraction, external vision and internal landscape. She performs 16mm film and audio loops live on multiple projectors.

Hiro Kone

Since assuming the recording moniker Hiro Kone in 2011, New York City-based electronic artist Nicky Mao has personalized a space predicated on dark layers interacting with rhythm. With her early EPs on Group Tightener and Bitterroots, leading up to the EP Fallen Angels and the acclaimed debut full length album, Love Is the Capital (both on Geographic North), Mao’s meticulously crafted textures attracted collaborators like Drew McDowall (Coil), Little Annie, and Roxy Farman (Wetware) while driving against the grain of experimental techno. Mao’s explorations often cast themselves against danceable structures, creating a duality of crisis and escapism.

Topazu

Topazu is a San Francisco-based selector, curator and artist. She hosts the local Infinite Beat Ambient showcase and radio show, Infinite Beat, formerly on Radio Valencia and SutroFM. Since 2015, the show features producers, artists and DJs that are shaping the Bay Area sound in experimental synthesis as well as celebrates romanticism, nostalgia and cinematic themes with modern day electronics. Besides curating Infinite Beat, she has been featured DJing many shows including; Sure Thing, TVOD, Surface Tension, Honey Soundsystem and Recombinant Media Labs. With her interests in abstract textures, carnal rhythms and her exuberance in darker, chaotic noise, Topazu has also supported many international artists such as Wolfgang Voigt, Evigt Morker, Silent Servant, Takaaki Itoh and Marie Davidson. She was a featured performer for the first San Francisco edition of Mutek in 2018.
