Alex Hanna is the Director of Research at the Distributed AI Research Institute (DAIR) and coauthor of The AI Con. Her work examines how new computational technologies exacerbate racial, gender, and class inequality through their data practices and effects on labor. She also works in the area of social movements, focusing on the dynamics of anti-racist campus protest in the US and Canada.

Fred Turner is the author of five books, including most recently, Seeing Silicon Valley: Life Inside a Fraying America. He is also the Harry and Norman Chandler Professor of Communication at Stanford University, where he studies the impact of new media technologies on American culture since World War II.

Jaz Brisack is the co-founder and organizing director at Inside Organizer School, a nonprofit that creates youth networks to reinvigorate the labor movement and trains non-union workers to organize their workplaces. Jaz empowers workers nationally by providing them with the tools to form unions, overcome employer opposition, and negotiate contracts that address their needs as employees. As a founding member of Starbucks Workers United, they helped organize the first unionized Starbucks in the United States, igniting a national movement resulting in the unionization of over 500 Starbucks locations. Jaz began organizing in Mississippi with the United Auto Workers’ campaign at Nissan and has since worked with union campaigns at companies like Ben & Jerry’s, Amazon, and Tesla. Jaz published their book, Get on the Job and Organize: Standing Up for a Better Workplace and a Better World, and aspires to rebuild union density in the U.S. for a stronger economy and democracy.

JS Tan is getting his PhD at MIT and formerly worked in tech. His work has been featured in The New York Times, MIT Technology Review, Dissent, Jacobin, Foreign Policy, The Baffler, and The Guardian, among other outlets.

Clarissa Redwine helped organize the Kickstarter union and cofounded the tech organizing conference Circuit Breakers. Her organizing work has been featured in The New York Times, the BBC, The Guardian, The Verge, TechCrunch, and elsewhere.
