AMPL Labs

AMPL Labs is an award-winning creative studio that designs participatory art experiences, immersive installations, and archiving technology to connect and empower diverse communities.

Founded in 2014 by Nigerian-American creative technologist Mayowa Tomori and architect/educator Michael Runge, the studio merges storytelling, emerging technology, and community-led design to build playful, inclusive experiences rooted in cultural memory and collective imagination.

AMPL’s work spans mixed-reality games, interactive public artworks, and digital preservation tools co-created with museums, Indigenous communities, and cultural institutions. Their projects—featured by Architectural Review, DeutschlandFunk, ArtNews, and others—are part of the Smithsonian Design Museum and Indiana State Museum permanent collections.

The studio has received over $250K in awards and support from organizations including UNESCO, The Mozilla Foundation, Tribeca Interactive, Smithsonian Institution, and have participated in international residencies in Taiwan, Indonesia, and Germany.
