RITE 2017 Ballet

Dawson Dance SF returned to the Grand Theater for a re-imagining of Igor Stravinsky’s 1913 Rite of Spring score! RITE 2017 connected this ancient tale of ritual, sacrifice, and awakening to the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s. A timely statement on the shifting attitudes towards the gay community, this work also functions as an educational experience for a generation that may be unaware of the history of the epidemic.
