WorkToday is a tool that makes the pairing of workers to short-term employment easy, safe, and a path to full employment. Bringing dignity back to day work, the platform allows workers to build a positive, cumulative work history that can lead them to more work and greater long-term opportunities. Employers gain increased exposure to a reliable workforce that can help them achieve their goals and give back to the community. WorkToday helps CBOs (community based organizations) become more efficient by automating some of their administrative tasks leaving them more time for other initiatives. Technologies used include PHP, Twilio, and Foundation CSS framework.

This project was created during the Creative Currency Collaboration Weekend, April 27-29th,2012, a first-of-its-kind partnership between Gray Area Foundation for the ArtsHub Bay AreaThe San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Civic Innovation, and American Express. These partnerships have allowed the project to bridge communities interested in technology, social enterprise, community development, civic issues, and the new economy in an unprecedented way.
