Three nights of audio, extreme computer music, algorave, and bit-shifted R’n’B from tomorrow, plus two days of talks on process-based art across code, sound, and systems. Talks take place Friday and Saturday, moving from the mathematical to the topological through procedurally generated worlds, internet and ambient art, FM synthesis, esolangs, and more. Workshops run Thursday, March 26 (limited spots).

Integrating Real-time Neural Audio Synthesis in Sets and Productions
with the Magenta Team (Google DeepMind)
10 AM – 1 PM
Dive into real-time neural audio generation using Magenta RT (open-weights) and the Lyria RT API, exploring how to play with low-latency models as live, steerable instruments. We’ll look at how to give models a distinct sonic character through finetuning, and how to build custom interfaces that integrate into live sets and production workflows
We’ll cover:
• Imprinting specific styles through training data curation to refine the model’s aesthetic
• Designing custom controls to fit different performance styles and setups
• Using real-time steering techniques to direct the audio stream on the fly
• Using live input audio as an experimental control mechanism through audio injection
Build Your Own Fantasy Code Editor
with Char Stiles
12 – 3 PM
Calling all creative coders! Ever wished you could tweak your code editor or design your own? In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how code editors work by building one themselves, then push beyond convention through playful and unexpected variations. We’ll begin with a writing prompt and a short look at the history of creative coding tools, then build from a simple web-based p5.js editor using JavaScript.
From there, participants will experiment with ways to extend their editors through generative systems, alternative interaction patterns, and custom features that reflect their own creative process. Alongside the technical build, the workshop invites participants to think critically about the IDE not just as a functional tool, but as an interface that shapes how coding feels and what kinds of experimentation become possible.
By the end of the session, participants will have built a working web-based code editor, added at least one experimental feature, and gained a deeper understanding of how creative coding environments can support expression, play, and invention.
Prerequisites: Participants should have basic JavaScript experience, including familiarity with variables, functions, and editing code in the browser or a code editor. Please bring your own laptop.
Computational Poetry for 100 Years
with Lee Tusman
1:30 – 4:30 PM
<100 years in the future> A great-great-great-grandchild unearths an ancestor's heirloom computer from the family's forest storage unit—a silver box from the pre-solar era. They manage to power it up. An ancient bell chimes. The display flickers to life, revealing a poem still running after a century.
<present day> What would our computational poetry look like if we built it to last 100 years? In this workshop, we'll explore permacomputing principles and create small computational artworks and code poetry using L5, a minimal creative coding library built on Lua. Through simple, durable code, we'll arrange words and images into dynamic compositions that shift with every interaction.
